For this week I was going to post all about our amazing summer adventures we have had, because there have been so many, but then this moment happened with Myles and I really just wanted to document it. So perhaps next week I will write a little story about our grand summer adventures but this week I wanted to talk about my Myles.
Myles and I have a really special bond. Well I’m sure most mothers with their youngest do but I will go on pretending that my relationship with Myles is the most special relationship that ever existed in the world. He makes me laugh constantly, he is smart and he talks to me about everything. I mean, I am aware that he is two and of course he would talk to me. But it’s funny, we have these long conversations about nothing really. He likes to sing to me and we laugh and laugh and laugh. I am so happy I still have two school years home with him. I’m not ready to let him go.
These pictures were taken among the clutter and chaos that is my life. I was making supper and he came up to me, like he always does, and hugged my leg. “Mama, I want to be picked up”, he said. “I want to help you make supper”! So up he came and so did his little stuffie friends, who are always in his arms. We were singing and playing patty cake, in between supper prep and I just had to pull out my camera and capture this simple yet tender moment between me and my Myles. And this is a message I try to tell all my friends/family and clients GET IN THOSE PHOTOS! No matter how disgusting you feel, or how messy your life is, none of that will matter years from now. Your children will cherish photos like these and so will you! You might not love the way you look right now, but non of that will matter later.
I’m so glad I ignored the mess and chaos and I just took these pictures, I know I will love looking back on these one day!
A Year of Stories is a group of photographers dedicated to capturing the stories of our lives one week at a time. Make sure to move along in the circle, Cynthia Dawson is up next!
